IDEA FOR COMMENT
Why would it be bad to drain your sink or tub into your toilet tank in an effort to conserve water through re-use? Water would drain through a pipe to the upper toilet tank where overflow could be sent to the same place that perfectly clean water goes when the toilet 'runs'. I'm thinking of three downsides:
1- Debris. Stuff goes down the sink drain and might clog up the toilet. Higher frequency cleaning might be in order.
2- Water quality. Reusing water will increaase the contaminant concentrations that must be dealt with by residential septic systems or municipal wastewater treatment plants. As the bulk of US homes use septic systems, greater attention should be paid to the impacts of this practice upon their operation.
3- Dogs. The water in the toilet won't be clean to drink.
Looks like I'm not the first to think of this. Link

If you don't have anything nice to say, say it loud.
