**** NAOMI TUTU, daughter of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his wife Nomalizo, will deliver the keynote address the the Whittier Street Health Center’s annual meeting on Monday December 1.
Miss Tutu will be presented with the Whittier President’s Award. The Whittier Street Health Center’s Annual Meeting is free and open to the public! It will be held at the Raytheon Amphitheatre, Egan Reach Center at Northeastern University and will start at 6:30 pm.
Whittier President Frederica M. Williams says “We are exceedingly excited that Naomi Tutu will be joining us for this special Annual Meeting. She is one of the most articulate and passionate spokespersons on the global issues of race, gender and gender-based violence of our time, and we are honored that she will share her message with our audiences.”
Tutu holds a BA in Economics and French from Berea College in Berea, KY, and an MA in International Economic Development from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Economic Development at the University of Kentucky. She has received numerous awards and honors from various organizations.
Early this year she began working as Associate Director of the newly formed Office of International Programs at Tennessee State University in Nashville. Before that she served as Program Coordinator for the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University. The instute is charged with focusing on the problem of racism in the global community.
