Good work Executive and Legislative branch,
you voted to drill for oil in the
Artic. GW Bush sez:
"Increasing our domestic energy supply will help lower gasoline prices and utility bills..."
... but not for over ten years, long after he's gone. So now his legacy is:
- an unwinnable "War on Terror"
- possible secret black-ops prisons run by the CIA
- military tribunals for detainees at Gitmo (maybe... some day)
- Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the ensuing destruction
- September 11... never thought you'd see that in the MIDDLE of a list, did you?
- Afghanistan
- over 2000 US soldiers killed in Iraq
- Valerie Plame and "LeakGate"
- oil rigs in "America's Serengeti"
There was also the $400 tax rebate check he sent me in 2001. I guess that makes it all worth it.
Here's the current
average national prices of gasoline and
home heating oil. Check back in 10 years to see if starting wars in the Mid-East and destroying pristine Caribou habitat in Alaska brings these below current levels.
