...To the beige-mobile, chums!

GROUPTHINK... but in a good way.

Congratulations and kudos are in order to everyone who played a role in making this weekend's "spring forward" a success. Nothin' better than an extra hour of sun in the evening. It was totally worth the disorientation and late rising this morning. Thanks, rest-of-you!

What we really need now is more collective action in the same mold. We've changed the time of the sunset by sheer force of our will! Let us now turn this incredible power toward that five-armed demon, the workweek! 40 hours per week is foolishness, dreamt up by union leaders when hammering red-hot metal into steam engines or something for 14 hours a day was considered an honest day's labor, fit to be compensated for by the price of an apple or similar god-awful small amount. It's 2005. Don't we have robots to do the hammering? The employers still pay just enough to keep us floundering. Why not want less and work less?

Our common distain for the 40-hour week can accomplish great things. Imagine the leisuretime activities, reading, relaxing, and lemonade drinking that can be accomplished after a satisfying and sufficiently brief 32-hour workweek. We can do it people! Carpe diem (monday or friday, whichever you choose)!

NEXT TIME: The 16 hour workweek, or "tuesday afternoon to thursday lunch is when all the work gets done anyway..." ALSO "Why don't we measure our leisure hours instead of our work hours? Another 72 hour weekend? Awesome!"
