MY PRE-CIVILIZATION ANCESTORS... I had Environmental Ethics class today. We discussed several ethical theories that we will we revisiting over the course of the semester. One was Inter-Generational Equity. Similar to stated Native American concern for seven future generations, one could contrast this with another theory which noted that we should consume as much as we want because future generations will figure something out. My knee-jerk response was anger at my pre-historic neolithic hunter-gatherer ancestors whose growing population pushed the tasty and delicious Mammoth to extinction, forever preventing me from buying Mammoth Nuggets at McDonalds. As a result I plan to do all I can to ensure that my descendents are guaranteed the ability to eat all the large land mammals that I can eat.
