My observation is that our increased understanding of the physical world can be used to re-design many things that have remained largely unchanged for thousands (literally!) of years. I find it mildly inspiring that there are still advances to be made. Perhaps we, as a society, can put some of that creative effort behind reducing poverty? But then, I'm just a girlie man.
