Kate will be heading out on her odyssey on Friday morning. Her first planned stop is in Ohio, from whence she will certainly depart post-haste for the expansive bosom of our nation's breadbasket. The current plan is to substitute her unfailing smile, generous nature, and quick wit with a weblog entitled wicked fun times. I have my doubts about the exchange. I suspect that a blog will be cold comfort to a husband left behind on the rocky shoals of the metro-Boston area with nothing to protect him from the cruel world save the numbing properties of Pabst Blue Ribbon and the soothing sounds of a well-tuned bicycle.
Be sure to compare and contrast the two blogs to see who winds up with the better deal out of this cross-country trip. Please rember, however, that only the terrorists win when it comes to long-distance love affairs. Although that might be something I'm rememberng incorrectly. Perhaps it was buying duct tape that means that the terrorists have won. It's all too complicated.
This sounds like a negative post, but I want to assure you, gentle reader, that I am happy about the trip. Kate will see things that most people dream of seeing and she will have much-needed time to herself. It's important to allow the ones you love to have space. They need it to plan for the future (in which they provide copious financial support while feediing you grapes).
